Have VHS become obsolete?

You may remember them if you are a kid of the nineties or in your thirties. VHS once used to run the world of home viewing entertainment. A time when video stores only carried VHS and DVD had not yet been invented. I personally still own and watch VHS, to me the rougher textural quality that the VHS provide make for a more enjoyable experience. I do seem to have an outdated or old school opinion when it comes to this. For most it's out with the old and in with the new. What's new is better it seems that consumers are more concerned with clarity and speed than keeping with tradition especially when it comes to movies. For me if I'm watching Casablanca which most people have not seen I want it to have more of the original feel and grit. Now you only find VHS in thrift stores for a buck, which for me is great, it just seems that VHS have become obsolete.

Piracy: Good or Evil?

"Pirating", or illegally downloading music-is it acceptable, or should it not be done? I'm sure if you asked someone of a younger generation if they have ever pirated music, I'm sure a good amount would say they have at least once. I know I have before. While it is a quick and easy way to build a large music library for free, the artist is the one who suffers by not getting that money from the album. There are multiple fines in place if you do get caught, but there are so many torrent sites and people who put stuff on the internet that cracking down on piracy is next to impossible, as the internet is not a clearly governed space. My take on piracy is go for it if you don't currently have the means to legally buy the artist's material, or mind the possibility of getting caught, but if you truly enjoy the material you should at least spend the money to support the person or band.

Four Legged Actors Steal the Show

Some of the most porpular films ever made have starred dogs. I think we can all remember watching Lassie, Old Yeller, and Benji just to name a few. This year many movies have used dogs to steal the scenes. A Jack Russel Terrier named Uggie acted alongside Jean Dujardin in the current movie The Artist. The movie  Hugo also included a stunning Domberman Pinscher who played the train inspectors companion. Many trainers say that food plays a large role in the animals behavior but it really relies on the hours on end that these trainers spend working with their dogs. These trainers are also discreetly on screen while working with their dogs. Many dress up in costume and appear on screen in order to get the best results. Uggie won the first ever Golden collar award for his performance. It's nice that the dogs and trainers are finally getting some recognition. This article involves laws regarding animal rights. This would be State Laws that are involved.
